A poem written by Jefferson Bethke about how our culture's view of sex is extremely damaging, and yet we swallow it without actually studying its truth. Depression is rising, and yet pleasure is more at our fingertips than ever, showing its inability to satisfy us the way we were meant to be satisfied. Sex is good, in its proper context. On top of that though, this poem focuses on anyone who has been deeply affected, hurt, and damaged by sexual sin. Forgiveness and mercy are given freely by Jesus. He cleans, restores, and heals us beyond measure and asks nothing in return.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
Wow. I came across this video a few days ago, and was cut to the heart more than ever over the issues of sexual sin and healing. As a young woman who hopes to work with teenage girls in the future, I know that this is an all-too-prevalent issue that isn't addressed nearly as much as it needs to be. Maybe the topic of sexual healing is just "too much" for you, or maybe it speaks directly to where you're at... either way, it's something that needs to be shared!
