The Pursuit.

At the beginning of each new year, I tend to feel the Lord place a word in my mind that sets the tone for that year.  In 2010 it was challenge; in 2011, authenticity; 2012 was all about trust; and 2013 was a year of being unashamed.  Then yesterday, as I was driving home from a friend's house with the windows down and the sunshine beating down on my face, the word for 2014 showed up...

2014 is going to be the year of pursuit: me pursuing God more intentionally on a daily basis, experiencing God more fully as He pursues my heart more intimately, and beginning to pursue some of the dreams and visions He has given me over the last few years.  I am so excited to see where the Lord is going to be taking me over the next 12 months, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  I can sense already that it is going to be an even crazier and more soul-filling year than any thus far, and that's saying something considering what this last year has been like.

As I reflected and prayed over this word last night, I also wrote out goals for the year, so I thought I might include a few to share with y'all, and maybe you can even hold me accountable for some of them.

  • Attend at least one God-focused conference (I'll be at Passion ATL... anyone else going?)
  • Read 15-20 new books
  • Speak as much as God opens doors to do so
  • Blog with more intention and purpose
  • Invest in my closest friendships both more and better
  • Serve regularly at my church with high school girls
  • Visit 5+ more new states
  • Begin saving for a trip to London to visit my aunt
  • Pray more fervently, and expect God to answer
  • Live simply and love abundantly

Now what about you?  What are some of your goals for 2014?  Has the good Lord given you a word as a banner over your year?
